Almost ready for the road... EN/ES

This week has been packed with experiences giving us insight into life in Kenya: no doubt most visitors don't spend much time in supermarkets in Embakazi; medical facilities; training centres for welders, carpenters, mechanics, and tailors; saddlers; among other esoteric locations. We have been working with an amazing group of experts at "Don Bosco" in Karen who, despite being somewhat taken aback by the timing of our project, have taken on the challenge of working with us to prepare our vehicle for the trip.

Esta semana ha estado llena de experiencias que nos han dado conciencia sobre la vida en Kenia: sin duda muchos visitantes no gastan mucho tiempo en supermercados en Embakazi, instalaciones médicas, centro de entrenamiento por soldadores, carpinteros, mecánicos y sastres; talabarteros, entre otras ubicaciones esotéricas. Trabajamos con un grupo sorprendente de expertos en el centro de formación "Don Bosco"en Karen, quienes a pesar de estar un poco sorprendidos por el tiempo disponible de nuestro proyecto, asumieron el reto de trabajar con nosotros para preparar nuestro vehículo para el viaje.

We needed to remove the left hand rear seat, modify the existing framework for the fridge and storage drawers to allow installation of a sleeping platform, build and install it, adjust the mattresses kindly and professionally designed & manufactured for us by Americana de Colchones, modify sheets for the L-shaped bed, make up new mounts for the hood (bonnet) liner, and fabricate and install a roof-rack-mounted frame for the additional spare wheel/tyre, extra fuel cans, and water cans. Boniface, Dennis, Kevin, Michael, and Moses, along with many other team members, have done an amazing job of accomplishing this in a single week. Nina, at the AA if Kenya did a great job of arranging carnet transfer, COMESA insurance, Kenya insurance, and Foreign Permit. Gilbert, Daniel, and Patrick managed the logistics of getting us around, and Patrick in particular gave us advice and insight.

Necesitabamos quitar el asiento trasero de la izquierda, modificar el marco existente para la nevera y los cajones de almacenamiento para permitir la instalación de una plataforma para dormir; ajustar una de las colchonetas amable y profesionalmente diseñado y fabricado para nosotros por Americana de Colchones, modificar sabanas para la cama en forma de L, crear nuevos montajes para el revestimiento de capó (capó), y fabricar e instalar un marco para montar en el techo, para la rueda de repuesto adicional, latas de combustible extra y latas de agua. Boniface, Dennis, Kevin, Michael y Moses, junto con muchos otros miembros del equipo, han hecho un trabajo increíble de todo lograr esto en una sola semana.

Throughout, from months before arrival, on our first day, and every day since then, Luke has been amazing in advising us, shepherding us, and going far beyond any imaginable expectation to make everything possible. This evening we had dinner with Luke and Chloe, shared stories and plans, and agreed to meet in Botswana when we will all be there.
A lo largo de, meses antes de la llegada, en nuestro primer día, y cada día desde entonces, Luke ha sido increíble en asesorarnos, guiarnos, cuidarnos y va mucho más allá de cualquier expectativa imaginable para hacer todo posible. Esta noche cenamos con Luke y Chloe, compartimos historias y planes, y acordamos reunirnos en Botswana cuando todos estaremos allí.

Tomorrow, we plan to finish the Land Cruiser preparation, pack, check everything, and if time permits will leave Nairobi and head south. If the remaining tasks are not complete by mid-afternoon, then we'll relax in Nairobi another night before departing.

Mañana, planeamos terminar la preparación del Land Cruiser, empacar, revisar todo, y si el tiempo lo permite saldremos de Nairobi, hacia el sur. Si las tareas restantes no están completas a media tarde, nos relajaremos en Nairobi otra noche antes de partir.
