First impressions of Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe, 2017, Mar 11th

Coming to Zimbabwe was a really friendly experience, until now this border was easier, faster, and more efficient than all the rest. Even though we have a valid Comesa yellow card the local laws demand the acquisition of third party insurance which is bought on entering the country, the process is very simple and in less than an hour we were on the other side ready to do what we liked.

Victoria falls has a great infrastructure for tourism, undoubtedly this is the main destination in Zimbabwe. After taking a short break in the hotel room, we enjoyed the warthog games in the gardens, followed by a group of banded mongoose, and  a variety of different birds, which were new at least for Marce.

We spent some time in the local market and we were impressed with the quality of the stone sculpture, the wood work and potato stamp textiles. Visiting the market is a exercise of patience and kindness, patience to receive all the comments to invite you to buy things and kindness to create enjoyable interactions with everyone.

The food during our time in Victoria falls was simply exceptional, it was possible to try different dishes which are made with local products, in a subtle preparation.

Our visit to the falls, called by the native people Mosi o Tunya: the smoke that thunders, doesn't need a lot of words. We explored the different viewpoints and enjoyed the force and magnitude of this natural wonder when the water level was so high.
